A cruisy boozy afternoon

Finally the weather was playing along,...
After what seemed an eternity, winter let up for a cold but gloriously sunny day. The wind was anywhere between 3 and 10 knots and direction was anyone's guess at times. Still, we had our friends with us and there just isn't anything better than enjoying and spending time together.
The newly repaired genoa also went up again; re-cut, new UV cover along leech and foot as well as a couple of frayed seams re-stitched. Good for another 10 years I'm sure ;-)
Five on board is fun, but a little cramped if we are all in the cockpit together, trying to move around. Yet soon enough we settled in and sailed aimlessly around the top part of Port Phillip Bay.
It was nice to see others seizing the day as well and other white sails were scattered about in the distance.
The hours flew by far to quickly and it was time to start the noise maker and douse the sails just outside our harbour.
On approach we saw a beautiful Grand Soleil slowly drifting with someone waving their arms on board, so we set course to see what the issue was. No engine, their sails dowsed and a bucket on a rope in the water aft, trying to slow the drift toward shore. A line was tossed and we towed them toward the harbour and their pen. She was easily twice our weight and yet the good old Bukh 24 horsepower engine did a pretty easy job getting us both in before the coastguard arrived.
Back in our pen, the cockpit table came out as did the nibblies and drinks. Sunset was about to show its colours and did not disappoint.
I miss my friends from the Peninsula most days and days like these make up for it every time!
Thank you Dale, Wayne and Michael for coming up and thank you Danni for making me a drink that lasted all night ;-)
