Baby got new wheel!

One change I wanted to make to Bela Vida was to change the size of her helm.
The previous wheel was a little too small and was 'just not right' to make comfortable use of nearby seating or particularly standing when helming on a lean. It was always a bit low/short and out of comfortable reach while under sail.
Thanks to an online trading place I found exactly what we needed, going up from 70cm to 90cm diameter. It arrived today and although the weather was not exactly pleasant, or dry for that matter; I could not help myself and had to try it on for size. PURRFECT! :-)
While I was at it, it also got a Turks-head knot to mark the centre top, but this time a black one with three strands!
Lucky I had the old laptop with me, so I could once again cheat and follow YouTube instructions on how to tie it. Here is the link.
We will also be giving it a nice raw leather grip a little down the track.
Seeing mum wanted to have help with an upcoming birthday present for me, this fit the bill perfectly. Thanks mum, great gift, can't wait to show you. :-) Can't remember being as excited about a birthday gift like this for years!
